Ego Rex will occasionally interrupt the player through their journey to deliver feedback on the decisions they make. He shows great distaste for Es, and recommends that the Wanderer stay away from her. Es displays a similar distain towards Ego Rex. Representing the Superego, Ego Rex takes the form of a wall or door sculpted to resemblea human face split down the middle.
Ego Rex is, similarly to Es, completely achromatic. Unlike Es, Ego Rex is inhuman in nature. Rather he may represent the walls trapping Es within conformity, but this is speculation.
Throughout the game, Ego Rex will appear to the player and deliver feedback on their progress. He will urge the player to keep Es under control, eluding to what may happen if her impulses are not kept in check. This is in reference to the events of the Id ending. He will attempt to influence the Wanderer into achieving the Superego ending instead. However, a third option is possible.
Ego Rex has no presence in the post game story, regardless of the achieved ending. His relationship to the Wanderer is implied to be entirely platonic, unlike Es who's feelings are ambiguous in nature.
